INT -- TELEGRAPH HILL APARTMENT -- STUDY -- NIGHT

Ray, dressed in a suit, stares into a videophone on his desk. On the screen appears
STAN WEINBAUM, a New Jersey engineer, comfortably seated in his workshop. Stan looks like Jeff Goldblum.
STAN:
(gruffly)
So now we got another use for the damn thing. A bomb.

RAY:
(grinning)
Not just any bomb, Stan -- an atomic hand-grenade with no fallout!

STAN:

You know, you might find a use for my discovery
that doesn't involve mass destruction of lives and property.

RAY:

Um, yeah, Thompson wished for that 100 years ago.
But you'll be so pleased with me! I'm not going to use it on Earth any more.

Stan arches an eyebrow.
RAY:
How fast can you rig a flame-pistol for use on Mars?

STAN:
(alert)
Mars? what are you up to?
